I know it's hard for SHO folks to picture (as there is virtually no such
thing available), but there is a large aftermarket network of parts
suppliers for cars like BMW, Porsche, MB and any others. The sell both
factory & aftermarket parts, and most are at reasonable prices. I have
semi-jokingly said that you can build a complete 911 via mail-order. Same
with BMW, as my buddies get a lot of stuff mail-order, plus there is a local
guy (former BMW mechanic) with his own shop with a bunch of parts cars out
back.

IMHO, it's easier to find quality parts (and also at a reasonable price)
than it is to find the same for a '92 SHO.

To determine whether it's worth it or not, you might want to ask yourself
what you want to do with it?  Is your family just in the market for an
additional car?  Daily driver?  Track car?  Just want to re-sell it and make
some money?

Even if you get it for free you'll be spending money on repairs, title and
plates, insurance, etc.  I suspect BMW parts are rather expensive as well.

Just thought I'd throw out something to think about.

Just like a SHO V6, it is just starting to get broken in at 200K. if the
body & interior are in good shape, go for it I have two friends with '80-era
325s, with near that much mileage, and they are still humming along just
fine (at least I believe so with the 2nd one haven't talked to that guy in
awhile).

A local charity is having an auction this weekend for several vehicles. The
one that caught my eye is a '92 BMW 325is. It has 200,000 miles on it but
looks in good shape. No rust, a couple of dings. It has a leaking PS pump
and needs new brakes all around. Anyone have any suggestions? I've looked at
various sites online and got some pointers but since you SHO dudes are car
people I figured I'd ask here as well.
