[Shotimes] ABS light comes and goes

I had a similar problem once.

The abs light wouldn't come on until I drove the car AND stepped on the brake. It didn't always happen. Rainy days sound familiar.

I didn't pay attention to the exact speed at which this happened. But I can imagine I was going faster than 15mph. And I don't remember it happening in parking lots, driveways, and so on.

The were no codes set. Ford diagnosed the crap out of it, and threw their arms up.

The problem started occuring right after Ford did some work on the rear brakes. I alwyas suspected the mechanic had done something he shouldn't. The problem eventually went away after I replaced the rear hubs, which come with new abs rings. So somehow the problem was related to these rings.

The old rings looked fine. I.e., they were rusted but perfectly shaped and round.

I'm speculating the mechanic did something to change the magnetic properties of the rings, since the abs sensor senses variations in magnetic response from the rings.

Did you have any work done on your car around the time where this abs problem started to occur?
