Alan, for all the time and new techniques and tools, cam timing and 
profile still is a black art. 

I have a cartoon on my garage wall from when I talked to three famous 
Pontiac engine builders when doing an engine several years ago.  They 
had three totally different schemes for how to do one objective (drag 
car).  The cartoon is that one that shows a car all composed and soft 
and then all frazzled,  the caption is "Before and after talking to 
three engine builders about cams!"  :)
