Bill,

The sender unit you need has a very narrow range of fit: It applies only to
police Tauri, and then only those that had the optional gauges. Naturally
that sort of part is not going to show up on listings without some digging.

Your other option is to experiment with using a sending unit from
aftermarket gauges. They won't necessarily have the same resistance curve
(Y ohms at X psi) as the sender Ford engineers chose for the Police gauges,
but you can experiment.

Another option is to ditch the factory gauges, use the panel, and install
both an aftermarket gauge and the compatible sender.

If you want the factory look, you're going to have to dig in and find a
factory sender, or experiment on your way to it. If what you want is data,
then use the panel but swap in an aftermarket OP gauge.

I bought a set of Police Gauges for my Taurus. Installed them but I do not
have the correct sender to make the oil pressure gauge work correctly. I
have checked the Ford Parts books no help. They do not have a listing. The
aftermarket has a listing but it does not work correctly as the gauge stays
pegged. Does anyone know what sender unit is used with Police oil pressure
gauge? This is the 2 gauge set that fits below the radio. I talked to the
person who I bought the unit from, he never hooked up the oil pressure
gauge. Found some guys via google with Taurus Police car web sites bragging
about having the gauges. Guess what oil pressure gauge not hooked up.
Everyone has the gauge no one has it hooked up. Guess they are content just
looking at it. I'd like it to work, and I figure Ford delivered the car to
various police departments with it working so a sender should be out there.
Anyone know what it is? TIA
