I'm putting mine in a china cabinet in the living room.  Most of the stuff in there
is Eva's, but there is a corner where the 1/25th scale SHOs and a Crown Vic police
car are.  She won't let a speck of dust land anywhere around here, and that cabinet
is the cleanest place in the house.

I'd say keep them under clear glass or a plastic cover, like in a museum display. 
They should stay clean that way.
