Or with a slight retard they were looking to pick up a little top end lost
from the lower lift?
When I dynoe'd the 3.2L with stock cams in various settings (adjustable
sprockets) advancing lost tq everywhere. Retarding lost a bit (10 ft/lbs
peak at -6 degree) but shifted the whole curve north, so WHP was increased
peak by 7 whp @ 6200 rpm. Sort of a poor man's "big cam" track day quickie
mod so long as you stayed above 4500 rpm.
I've heard 107-111 centerline numbers through the years. Who knows. I
dropped my 40's in straight up. I promply went ~2 secs quicker a lap at
road atlanta. Maybe I could pick up another second with some dyno tuning
and cam timing. I need a crew chief (I'd rather just drive) :)
