Yes, I understand why it goes through oil.  I still don't think I'd want to
deal with it.  They sure handle nice though.

The rotary goes through oil because it has been designed that way to 
reduce wear on the rotor seals.  It injects oil like some 2 cycle 
engines.  The up side is the engine is super simple, cheap to rebuild, 
but they last a long time too.

Either you "get" the rotary or you don't.  I had a first Gen RX7 and it 
was a true sports car, and was about more than torque or HP.  It was 
about the driving experience.  Can't really describe it without writing 
a book, but it was, in a word FUN.  More fun than many higher powered 
cars.  In another word Smooth.  Yes there are many super smooth modern 
engines, but the Rotary is in another league.

It is an option and a good one, I am not in the current buyers group, 
but I am glad it is available.
