[Shotimes] 06 IMPALA....Replacement for SHO?

The RX-8 is supposed to "meter" 1/qt of oil every 10k miles. Car and
Driver's long term test car used 1 qt every 3500 miles right off the bat.
What concerns me is that if it uses that much more oil than it's supposed to
when brand new, how much will it use after 3 or 4 years?
I dunno, maybe it's no big deal.

My 184,000 mile SHO used 1 quart every 3,000 miles. My 2 VW TDI's, one with
137,000 miles on it use a quart every 6,000 miles. My Saturn SL2, starting
at 50,000 miles used (not leaked) used a quart every 300 miles. I think
anything over a quart between an oil change for a car with less than 75,000
miles on it is excessive.

Reason I explained it is you said it was unexceptable for a new car. It
isn't for the Rotary and never has been. Many new cars use a quart in
3000 miles and we don't consider that excessive, and many older cars use
a quart in 1000 or less.
I never found it a problem with my RX7, I don't remember the exact oil
useage, but don't remember it as being anything beyond the high end of
oil use of a typical car, Aren't we supposed to be checking oil every
long trip, and every week or so anyway? :)
