[Shotimes] Engine Trouble

hey all
last week when i got home from work i noticed that my engine was idling
funny. It was bouncing repetitively between about 900 and 1100 RPMs. I
noticed it was low on oil (I have a leak, plus my plug seals leak), and the
problem stopped. Today i was on my way home and noticed it was doing it
again, so i pulled over into a gas station. After a moment it stopped, so I
decided to bring it to my girlfriend's house since it was nearby. When i
turned onto her street, I was in neutral because I was coasting down a hill,
and I noticed it was doing it again. I stopped at the bottom of the hill,
put it in gear, and attempted to go. The car lurked forward in the same
jumpy way as the tach, responding to the jumps in the motor. I limped it to
her driveway and left it there. Does anyone have any idea what the hell is
causing this. I had a theory that maybe the plug wells had filled so high
with oil that they were misfiring, but it just seems odd. Could there be
something with my fuel lines? I just had a new fuel pump installed about 3
months ago. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Being me I would always
like to fix this myself and avoid shop fees, but this problem might be more
than I can handle.
