I just spent most of the day at the new Autobahn track near Joliet
watching and helping the new SATCAR

http://www.satcarracing.com/

people run an event there.

This is a race series where you actually race, can win trophies (no cash
or prizes though) but don't need anything more than what you already
have to do track days like the SHO club events.

No fender banging, no passing in curves, no extreme close following.
Basically drivers ed/lapping day rules. But you get timed (you rent a
transponder if you don't own one) and can actually win a race!

They have only held two weekend events yet, but will have many more I am
sure in the midwest next year, and could go nationwide.

I would like to know how many people would be interested in a two-day
weekend event (about 1.5 hours of track time each day at this point) for
under $400 (typical SCCA weekend in well into four figures at most events).

Ken and I will do this next year, and try it out.

Check out the web site, and let me know if you would be interested in
doing one or more events.
