[Shotimes] Adjusting belts?

Jim,

Bingo! That balldriver insert is what I marry to a 5mm, 1/4" drive, socket
to create my tool. Before doing so, though, I cut the balldriver bit to an
overall length that makes the tool optimal for removing a stock IAB valve
without having to pull the manifold. This tool, a short little 1/4" drive
extension, a 1/4" drive socket wrench, and you're good to go.

To adjust the belt tensioners, I add an extra-long 1/4" drive extension to
get the adjuster bolt down below the cam sensor. A shorter extension works
nicely for the other tensioner.

Now some may ask what's the big deal to making this tool? Well, the way I
make it is a little more complicated than it looks. I use a little jig I
made up that allows me to grind off the flats of the hex over a quarter inch
length at the end that goes into the socket. I also clean up the existing
hole thru the body of the socket using a matching carbide drill. This allows
the hex bit to be inserted another 1/4" deeper into the socket than would
otherwise be the case. It also fits with zero slop, so the net result is a
tight fit between the two parts when they're assembled. As an added
measure, I apply a little POR-15 paint as a bonding agent when inserting the
hex bit into the socket. So far, no complaints.

A photo of the completed tool is attached.
