Excellent suggestion, Jim!! I used Porterfield R4S pads on the last two Gen 2s I had, and loved them. They even list rear pads in R4 and R4S for the '89 SHO:

Go to http://www.porterfield-brakes.com/ and do the search.

PorterfieldR4-S1989FORDTaurus SHO w/Metal PistonAP421S$ 79.95AP347$ 89.95
PorterfieldR-41989FORDTaurus SHO w/Metal PistonAP421S$ 179.95AP347$ 159.95

I have bought the PFCM for the rear also at AZ, but not recently.

The last time I bought rear pads they were from Porterfield.

I have been happy with the Porterfields, both back and front. Although,
the '95 SHO from David Bonds has ORM Ford pads and they are also
good ('96 upgrade).
