For the newer folks, I will repeat my expeience. Bought my 92 new. The
clutch was replaced under warranty around 32K miles as a precaution
because the tranny needed some work on the synchros. The clutch then
proceeded to last until the rod bearings failed at 196K miles.

Several people I've talked to suggested that recent vintage OEM PPs were a
lesser quality than the originals. I would concur with that based on
personal experience. Busted strap.

Most people seem to be satisfied with the Ford TOB. While it is a good
design, the ceramic one from Josh is superior. If for no other reason
that I suspect most people with an older clutch will eventually feel the
clutch pedal making a crunchy or binding sound and feel. This happened to
me at about 90K miles after spending a day in Manhattan traffic. The
noise and feeling never left, but the clutch never failed. And then of
course people have listed experiences with the way the fingers on the PP
wear better with the ceramic TOB.

While I still believe the OEM PP to be the source of most clutch failures,
I've seen a badly driven SHO have a worn disc to the point the car won't
even make a minimal incline.
