Also, it can get rather loose, without vibrating or making any noise. I had one
that a wobble of over 1/2 inch from top to bottom. To check for that, jack it up
and grab the top and bottom (6 and 12 positions) of the tire, not the front and rear
(3 and 9). If you do that, you might misdiagnose normal steering linkage movement.
Top and bottom should yield almost no movement, or less than 1/4 inch at the most.
I first saw bad fwbrgs in a friend's '89 SLO, a LONG time ago...the wheels did not
rotate freely...they were jerky. Very worn!!
