[Shotimes] A/C Problem Fixed!

 My wife's 93 ATX with 182K miles stopped cooling and was found to be low on
Freon. It was recharged and we could not find any leaks. The A/C guy said
high mileage cars that have never had the A/C serviced, lose small amounts
of Freon over time. Like your tires will lose about 1psi/month pressure by
just sitting.
 Well, 3 days later it's blowing hot again and is again found to be low on
Freon. We know it has a leak somewhere!! Still can't find anything but
notice grease and oil down around the compressor. I finally get the idea to
unplug the electric cooling fans while the A/C is on so we can check the
system under operating conditions and with out the fans blowing all the
leaking Freon away. Found the high pressure relief valve to have a very
small leak. I did not know this was a replaceable separately and was very
pleased to find out it was cheap and used on many other cars. You won't find
it listed for a SHO but what you need is Murray #35745. Only about $10 from
O-Reilly. Take out the electric cooling fans to remove and install valve.
 Hope your A/C problems are small ones too!!
