It's just to the front of the thermostat, on the back top of the engine, just below
the throttle body.  It takes a 15 mm deepwell socket to take it off.  They should be
changed ever few years....they tend to read low after being used a while.  You can
change it without draining the cooling system if you are quick in getting the new
one screwed in.  They are generic, and fit a lot of Ford cars....should only be a
few bucks.

The conenctor might be a bit loose, and a bit oxidized.  That would cause the gauge
to not work, especially if the connector hasn't been moved or touched since the car
was new.  Squeeze it with pliers...not too hard, and try the original sender.

Maybe it might like a thermostat too.
