[Shotimes] anti freeze smell

Heater core replacement requires that the dash be removed, or at 
least moved back several feet.  Not much fun.

Try the heater hose connections on the firewall that feed the heater 
core.  Sometimes a leak squirts into the heater air box and would 
cause the smell.
