The heater air box is the common name for the whole heater assembly, more correctly
called a plenum, which is most of the plastic and fiberglass under the dash in the
center and on the passenger side.
The connections Jim is referring to are under the hood, behind the center of the
engine where the two hoses go into the firewall. The connection tubes of the core
stick out those two holes, and the hoses fasten to them. It is possible for those
connections to be loose and for antifreeze to leak into the area between the plenum
and the firewall, and into the plenum itself.
With the mileage on your car, I'd suspect it is the heater core itself. They are
not really very well made, factory or aftermarket. If a solder joint sealing the
end cap to the actual core is thin, it can wear away over time, and start to seep.
Start saving up about $500 if you want to have it done. You can do it yourself, but
you have to evacuate the a/c system, which ususally requires a pro.
