I assume that everyone on the list got this email. I sent him $20, as I
feel
that he has done a good job of keeping this list going, and I hope that
  others do the same.

You are getting this message because you are subscribed to one of the
many mailing lists at Team.Net. If you have no idea what I am talking
about, let me know, I'll see what I can do to let you know why you are
getting this message. On with the show...

A relaxing sunday near the end of April. Here in the United States no
doubt a few folks were NOT relaxing last weekend, as it was time to pay
taxes. I'm sure some were wrestling with tax forms and receipts and
feverishly filling out forms for the government. Who was it that
quipped "It's a good thing we don't get all the government we pay for!"

Government may be a case of paying for something you don't always want,
but Team.Net is a case of not having to pay for something you do want.
But there are various expenses that come out of my pocket to keep it
running, so once or twice a year I make a request for donations. And
it is that time once again, Back in 1991 traffic on the british-cars
and autocross lists was sufficient to warrant setting up a new domain,
team.net. 15 years - wow. And a few years before then as well for the
early days of the lists, which now number around 100, not just 2.

If you think that what you get from this mess of blinking lights and
humming wires in my basement is worthwhile, here's your chance to
contribute to keeping it alive and updating the hardware that makes
the lights blink, the wires hum and the email flow. If you are unable
to contribute due to your finacial situation, or recently sent me
something or simply can't stand paying for what I volunteer to
provide, don't worry about it. One way or another the lists, web
pages and archives will continue. And unlike PBS or NPR pledge
drives, I won't be hounding you for days on end - this message is the
  one and only request.

The easiest way to donate is through Paypal, sending your $5, $10, $25
or whatever contribution to donations@autox.team.net. There's actually
Canadian dollar and Pound Sterling accounts there, if you don't want to
  do any currency conversion yourself.

You can send a check, payable to Fat Chance Garage, to the address

  Fat Chance Garage
  PO Box 58333
  Salt Lake City, UT 84158

If contributing via a credit card is desired, I'll need:

  card number
  CCV number
  name on the card
mailing address associated with the card
  contribution amount

Write it down and mail it to the PO box address above, or fax it to
me at 801-355-5438 - I suggest you NOT email such information, email
  is far from secure.

So help us all out, and contribute to keeping Team.Net around for at
  least another 15 years!

  mjb.
