That's called Sedan Racing. They still do it in Britain, Europe and
Australia.

Nobody watches it. Look at the stands when they show the races late at night
on Speed.

In case no one has noticed, NASCAR has effectively deflected the car rivalry
(Ford vs Chevy vs Dodge) of the old NASCAR into a fan base that follows the
drivers. More of a big deal is being made now about Toyota's entry next
year, but when the time comes all that will really matter is who are the
drivers.

I still think that they should run only what is available off the showroom
floor.  If you run an Intrepid body then you also run the Intrepid engine
and trans.
