Are you sure it was just the parade laps? Wally or Benny mentioned that
Geoff Bodine usually drove the pace car but that Leno was and this was
during one of the yellows.

For the parade laps yes.  There was a TV piece a few years ago with leno and
stewart, as leno was "certified" to run at high speeds at daytona.  IIRC he
did it in a LS-1 F-body car.
