[Shotimes] OT Question for the drag racers

An altered is a car probably with specially constructed frame, a body the
might be derived from a model A or T Ford, Anglia, Willys, anything like
that.  The engines were usually Chrysler or Chevrolet V8's.  I have images
of them in my mind with fuel injectors and with superchargers so I can't say
for sure which was allowed in that class.  "C" is a class of altereds that
is probably related to engine displacement vs. vehicle weight, with class
"A" having the highest displacement per pound.

Here are a few images I quickly googled.  They talk about "gassers" and I
seem to remember that "gas" was a class similar to altered, but I can't tell
you what the differences were.
