[Shotimes] OT New Camaro just slightly retro

Ian,

Yes, detroit is taking a hint from styling of the 60's and 70's, but
they are popular in the collector world, and a lot of people think they
were some of the most beautiful cars built. Others don't.

As for taking a step back in technology. Why would you say that? All
the so-called "retro" cars have the very latest in technology, at least
from their division. For instance, the GTO has the latest engines,
suspension, and safety features, and it isn't even retro. The
Chrysler/Dodge cars all have the latest stuff including IRS, and Rear
Wheel Drive isn't a step back in technology, it is a step away from a
compromised technology, FWD. How many of us have wished for years that
our SHO's were RWD? I still love my FWD SHO, it is what it is, and it
is fun, but I love the new trend towards RWD.

As for heavy, that has nothing to do with retro, it has to do with the
platform and new technology. The WRX is on the lighter end of the
scale, but is still almost 3400 pounds with automatic(and wagon).
Almost any new car from any manufacturer is above 3500 pounds these days
due to NEW technology as in multiple airbags and speaker systems with
subs and several heavy speakers. Add in metal to pass safety/crash
standards and only Lotus and a few very small cars are under 3500
pounds, and that is where the SHO is.
