It depends on market segment. There are a certain number of people who want Camaro's, so when they have bought their cars then the sales drop. I think the same thing happened with the Miata- they sold a lot of cars at first then the sales dropped. The Camaro or Challenger taps a new market. There are people who want one and will buy one because it is different, because it is nostalgic, whatever. Then sales will drop. Even though I like that they are bringing out exciting vehicles like this, overall I think the market is small and the better business decision would be to concentrate on a car type with a bigger market.
I don't know why the Camaro sales declined, except that not a lot of people can afford or justify that type of car and its insurance. A lot of the people who would be interested in the Camaro have moved upwards to cars like the BMW (lots of BMW's with Mullets down here), or have moved to SUV's. The Mustang has had a touch of magic that allowed it to endure a little better. I would like to have a Camaro with the good engine, but I couldn't afford to buy a new one, and I need a slightly bigger vehicle so I have the SHO.
