I had the same thing happen with me, with my 95MTX...
and it
was my fuel pump dieing a slow death. It took a week
to finally die. In the mean time, the shop could'nt
find anything wrong,
and it died on me a few more times till they found it.

Right after the fuel pump was replaced, the engine
started dieing again and I thought I had a faulty new
fuel pump, but it turned out to be the CPS.  When
these cars get old parts can start going at the same
time and drive you and the shop crazy. In 05 I had
waterpump, starter, fuel pump, CPS all go in
consecutive months.
