[Shotimes] 2002 Lincoln LS

Dad has a 2000 V-8. Its been the shop once, this past spring. One of the valves in the climate control system stuck open. $300 fixed the problem. That is the total of the service cost on the car(excluding oil, etc.)

It's the best built car we have ever had. It has it quirks, some of which were fixed in later models. But it has been bulletproof so far.

been happy. The latest was Scott Waters who bought an '03. Now, he's had
issues. The tranny went out, and after "a few other nit picky things" (his
quote), he's looking to trade it in. Now, it was a used car, so it's like
any other.....it could be someone else's problems.

Dave:
A used LS will be my next car! You want the 2003 and up versions. Over 500
improvements but the biggest is an increase in power of 28 HP due to
variable valve timing. Better reliability in the 2003 and up models too. Do
not even consider the V-6. The LS (All Models) resale value is terrible and
this is why I am interested. Much the same as the SHO. Great car and totally

overlooked by most of the public. So the prices are in the cellar and
getting cheaper. My local Lincoln dealer is selling 2006 LS's for $30K! This

is the last year for the LS. Too bad but they never really developed it
properly. Mainly underpowered for it's competition but the handling is
absolutely beyond good. Excellent technology applied correctly. The battery
is mounted in the trunk and the car is very close to 50/50 weight
distribution. Here are some forums so you can see the problems. Not really
much. Some tranny problems but they seem to be mainly solenoids and valve
body problems. LS trivia: No tranny dipstick!!Earlier cars had window motor
troubles, sway bar bushing and end link noises, Fogging headlights, Oil in
the plug wells and leaking valve cover gaskets which cause the coils to go
bad and more electronic troubles. It's all pretty minor and you can fix it
yourself MUCH cheaper. The drawback I see is that it is a VERY complex car,
so DIY just like the SHO!!

This last one is for factory mechanics so get past the union whining and
search for any car model. These are the line mechanics in the dealership and

you can soon tell what they are fixing or not fixing every day!!
