   Usually it's not the control connections, but a stupid little 90degree tab that the plastic of the door handle hits.  It gets worse quicker the harder you yank up on the handles.  If you can get a mirror and flashlight in there, you can see what I mean, but it's a very soft, non-reinforced piece of sheet metal attached to the latch mechanism.
   There are two fixes:  A new mechanism, or bending the tab back into place and being gentle with the handle from now on.  My driver's rear door is like this, and I've fixed it twice, and am now back to opening it from the inside again.  Grr.
