Other than the fancy materials used on the body, there is frankly probably more technology in the motor even though it's just a pushrod V8. The process of how the blocks are made on the Z06 is a pretty cool read, I need to find the link. Off the top of my head (been awhile since I read it) the blocks are initially made 2-3% larger than actual size, in the heat and chemical treatment that follows it actually shrinks by that same amount, and even after all the treating and pre-lim work, still like 2 or 3 out of 10 are tossed due to not meeting the quality standards. The large amount of scrap is what makes the rest cost so much. The bores are way thin on it, using liners, which extend a pretty good ways below the block due to the long strock (7.0L from a small block!) titanium rods, and essentially a dual pump dry sump system (not "new", but pretty trick for a street motor). Fully dressed the thing is physically smaller and lighter than a BMW 6 cyl, and will make over 600 chp with a cam swap.

a recent test/article I read from hot rod (I think it was hot rod) called the heads the best OHV factory heads off any car, anywhere, at any time.

The rest of the C6, is just a slightly washed C5 (1997) with alum, carbon fiber and magnesium bits...and leaf springs :)
