I would also add that the hotter the fluid in the rad gets, the faster it cools off.  IOW, a glass of water at 192 degrees will cool
to 182 degrees faster than a glass of 180 degree water will cool to 170 degrees.  So you actually want the fluid to be hot when it
gets to the radiator.

There have been times where I've read of people trying to solve a cooling system problem by inserting a 160 deg thermostat to get
the cooling to start earlier.  Because the fluid doesn't spend enough time in the radiator, it causes the car to run hotter.
