Well, finally tackled the spark plugs and wires, went with AC Delco
wires from RCM (thanks russ!) and autolite plugs. I don't know how the
autolites are going to work out, but they should be ok. I had to take
the intake off, the plugs got changed fine but I couldn't route the
wires through the intake! so I figured out how to take an intake off
(without breaking it this time) and, even more amazingly, back on... I
have a big ol' black bolt that looks a lot like the runner/head bolts
only longer, anybody know what that is? I only have the one left over...
looks important though. So the car's been sitting inactive for six
months and just had the intake off and the wires and plugs changed...
and it STARTED UP THE FIRST TIME I CRANKED IT! I don't know HOW that
happened. The idle is purrrrrfect and the engine revs a lot stronger. I
haven't driven it yet (plates are expired) but I look forward to seeing
what the difference is like. And, as usual, I wouldn't have been able to
do diddly-squat if it weren't for all y'all magnificent folk. Thank you
all so much!
