A stock slipping clutch is uncommon just from acceleration, a fast 1-2
shift will casue a slip sometimes. I get plenty of bite on a stock
clutch with about 245bhp. generally it's pretty obvious that your
clutch is slipping, and mine will slip if I do a fast 1-2 shift at
high RPMs. I know that, so I just don't dump on it at that shift. If
I let the RPM drop to match the speeds then all is well, but it's when
there is an engine to wheel speed mismatch that there is significant
slip (engine RPM is too high). Take it out on some back roads and se
eif you can get it to repeat the same thing. Even after a 30 minute
track session I generally never get anything from the clutch, now the
brakes have come in smoking before :)

On the brakes, since youhave no ABS (didn't pay close enough attention
to see it was an 89), you have to be good with threshold braking. But
the same is true, you want to try and maximize the available grip at
the tires at all times, accel, braking cornering. Just means you have
to get good at the brakes to keep from locking a wheel. I am a big
fan of ABS on the track as it is just one less thing I need to think
about.
