>From my gas turbine engines class, in a standard turbine setup, the most
concerned temp is at Tsub3 which is the inlet temp of the turbine.  This is
what is going to push the material limits of the turbine as it is the
highest.  As the gasses expend work through the turbine they decrease in
pressure, and in temperature - i.e. heat is changed into work.  So I think
your real concern is the temp going into the turbine, not at the outlet.

With some math though you can calculate a very good approximation for the
outlet temp if you know the inlet, or vice versa.  The high temps obviously
have impact on the thinnest metal parts of the system, which are the tips of
the turbine wheel at the exducer.  That's the first thing that's gonna
glow/melt.

The system is really the same if you have a piston cylinder engine between
the compressor and the turbine, or a simple combuster.  There are some
changes, but the theory is still very much valid.
