Glenlivet 18 yr old

Anyone tried the 18 yr Glenlivet?  I was given a bottle but have been 
disappointed with it.  Seems fairly sweet with almost no finish to speak 
of, which surprised me as Michael Jackson's notes give it a very different 
review.

I guess I'm an Islay woman - give me something powerful, peaty and smokey 
and I'm extremely happy.  Lagavulin is top of my list.  Talisker comes a 
close second (not technically an Islay but anything from Skye should surely 
count?!).  And if there's stuff like Bowmore flowing you can bet some of it 
will end up in my glass.
