New here ... just stumbled in from the Sunbeam Tiger list, which is a British car "halfbreed".

Being a blended Scotch Wiskey drinker for about ten years I decided to finally try a few single malts to see what all the fuss was about. As someone new to single malts my first shock was some of the prices. The second is how different they all taste. Right now I have a bottle of "Bowmore Legend" that tastes alot like that old seasoning we used to have in the kitchen cabinet called "Liquid Smoke" ... strong stuff so I've been (cringe) adding just a little bit to my blended wiskeys to add just a bit more flavor. The other bottle is a "Glendronach" 15 yr, aged in sherry casks. This one I REALLY LIKE .... so I guess this is the end where new people start and then aquire some of the stronger tastes.

I know nothing about single malts ... so expect me to be a lurker for awhile hoping to learn from the rest of you.
