My guess is that it works like the relay on FI systems that pulse for a few
seconds to charge the system and shuts off.  Once the car starts, it will
continue to run until the controlling signal (in this case the oil pressure)
is interrupted.

I installed the switch that is controlled by oil pressure. I think it lets
the
fuel pump run if there is ten pounds of oil pressure. It's been on 4 or 5
years and has not given any problems.
