[Spits] Thrust washer "what if?"

When I had this happen some years ago, there was a loud
squealing noise with the clutch disengaged which sounded
exactly like a bad throw-out bearing - which is what I originally
thought was wrong.  But the damage was pretty advanced
at that point.
