[Spridgets] Strange front bumper

Hi all-

I was doing a garage clean out/mental check and needed to re-sort my part
bins for my Sprite.

I guess I never really looked at it before, but my front bumper has a real
odd look to it, with just a single guard in the center.  A photo of it is on
the bottom of my page

Is this original?  I have not seen one like this in any photos.
