The cam can't be "180 out".  It turns once for every two turns of the
crank.  If your index marks show the cam "180 out", then turn the
crank over once and they'll be lined up.
What you have to do is insert the dizzy drive spindle with the correct
relation to the cam drive gear.

And, how is what you did a temp fix?  Didn't it re-align everything to
where you wanted it?
