Have you tried rethreading the holes (10/32) and using new screws?
If the holes are stripped, try a 10/24 thread, or if it's really bad, 
you can go to a 12/24 thread but check out the screw heads, 12s might be 
a tiny bit too wide but you can file them down around the head.
Use an oval head screw.
