I do not know that much about speakers. But the ones i listen to sounded ok. The ones in the wifes car sound great to me and i figure if i pull them out of wreak they should be cheap. Most of the ones i have seen mentioned are not much if any cheaper then the Bose. In fact i do see one that i have seen for more. But i feel the same way. I am not building a theater just some thing to hear some music and the news. I know some people go a lot further. And if that makes them happy i am happy for them.

A special caveat to my trashing of Bose junk:
If you are pleased with the sound and the price paid, then maybe they are
the right choice for you.
While Bose may not be the best sounding stuff and they are usually
overpriced, there is no definitive low- to mid-priced stuff that is clearly
better for the price. It is all junk and marketing hype.
The surrounds in my den are little KLH bookshelf units. KLH is utter, total
junk. But, for the price ($10 shipped on ebay) they sound very good. The
LCR channels are Klipsch Heresys and the sub is a custom Total Audio unit.
The processor is a Sony STR, which is also on the very low end of the
spectrum <$200 and is considered junk by many pro audio folks. But,
considering I have a screen size of 68X86 and less than $2500 spent on the
whole package, including projector, I think my home theatre is fabulous.
The crappy little KLH surrounds do their job well.
Cheers,
Derf
