Well,  I had to pipe in here ..  I have a 2003 Cooper S and it is just a
tremendously fun car .. brings a smile every time I drive it .. it loves to be
revved and performs best over 3500 ... I have had few problems .. my check
engine light comes on IF I do not coast down the large hill I live on when the
car is cold .. apparently a characteristic .. otherwise I have had no issues
.. it is terrific fun on winter roads as well.  I got a set of steel rims with
some Nokian Hakkelapitta (sp) tires .. and it is way fun ... If I have the
choice for my road drive it is the mini ... Not sure if I would like the
paddle shifters versus the standard 6 speed but that is choice ...
