Hey, I had a front wheel and suspension come off at somewhere north of
100mph.

I have had the speedometer up to the "E" in the word Beam as in Main 
beam on the dial. If calibrated the same, that would be 115 mph give or 
take.
That was back in my first 67 Sprite when I was 17 or so.
I was going down hill, I did have a tail wind and a passenger, and yes 
the front end becomes very *lofty* at 100 plus mph as I have been there 
a few times.
Hell I was in a Triumph GT6 going 140 mph.
That'll put a brown mark in your skivies ;)
