I'd get an older BMW 325 and 4 Nokias before I'd ever get FWD.

I'd really like to have under $8k in whatever I buy for a "commuter car".

Might even go older Jeep Cherokee, etc.

I understand ... but the new Mini really is a lot of fun,
and doesn't have (most of) the usual FWD foibles.
