But if Whitworth sizes are by the length of one flat, what is the 
difference?
As Bill L noted, I have a ratcheting wrench from LBCarCo, Part number K10696 
that has 3/16" and 1/4" on one end and 5/16" and 3/8" on the other end. I 
believe it was really developed for some HVAC application, but Jeff found 
them somewhere and stocks them for $13. MUCH easier to use than the 
non-ratcheting ones and FAR superior to trying to round off the flats with 
an open-end wrench.
