After reading your of your "hydrogen trick" I took a spin on google and came up with this...

It looks like someone has already cooked up a way to integrate the idea into vehicles, and packaged the directions for sale online.  I can't help but wonder if there are caveats they are not talking about, but it looks pretty neat.
