Hi List,

Here is the bolt data that I have so far and be sure to be sitting down
when you read the price. The prices exclude 17.5% British tax that can be
avoided if one lister made a single import but I guess you would then be stung
with some kind of US import taxes that you don't pay on small imports.

Property class 8.8 is 800 N/mm2 min and 1000 N/mm2 max. Yield point is
640. Vickers Hardness is 230 min 300 max
1N/mm2 = 145.037 lbf/in2
So 800 N/mm2 = 116, 029 lbf/in2
Grade 5 is 150,000 psi tensile and 90,000 psi yield
Grade 8 is 150,00 psi tensile and 120,000 psi yield
EN57T is 850/1000 which is 123,281 tensile and tba yield
17-4ph is 1069 tensile which is 155,044 tensile and tba yield
Ti is 1100 tensile which is 159,540 tensile
#14.73 + VAT in EN57T stainless and no split pin hole
#17.73 + VAT in EN57T stainless with the split pin hole
#15.57 + VAT in 17-4ph H1025 stainless and no split pin hole
#18.57 + VAT in 17-4ph H1025 stainless with the split pin hole
#23.05 + VAT in From Titanium 6Al 4V and no split pin hole
#26.05 + VAT in From Titanium 6Al 4V with the split pin hole
The interest level is only at 43 bolts so a long way from being cheaper.
How does this sound? For some reason of manufacture the split pin hole
involves more than just drilling a hole but plugging it first or something?
I need to check that.
Regards
Daniel

I have to do a calculation to convert psi to N/mm2 to answer that
question. When I do I'll post the answer.
