John,
Yes, the Lane Motor Museum is a MUST SEE if you are ever anywhere near the
Middle Tennessee area. If you are not in the area, it alone is worth
diverting your trip for. Make sure you are in the area for at least half a
day. You will not see everything sufficiently in half a day, but your travel
partners will probably have seen all they care to by then. (better yet, drop
them off at some country music thing while you go attend to important,
gearhead things)

I met Jeff years ago. Before he started the museum, he was just a really nice
guy with a big collection of neat, odd cars. After he started the museum, I
coordinated the donation of one of his cool displays. When you go into the
museum proper, one of the first things you see is a glass case with maybe a
three-foot-long cutaway model car inside. That's the display I got him. You
can get all the details from the plaque when you get there, but it is a very
rare and very cool piece - One of only a handful in existance worldwide. I
knew where it was languishing un-loved in an overpack box high in a warehouse
and talked the owners into the benefits of generating some positive PR by
donating it. Jeff was thrilled.

Do yourself a favor and just plan a trip. This is on the short list for North
American car museums you really should see. For anybody who has not heard of
this museum, here's the link:

David,
I have never been to Nashville, but when I go I am looking forward to visiting
the Lane Museum. Jeff Lane has quite a car collection, including the Midget he
raced in the Northeast Division a few years back. You might want to check it
out.
