[Spridgets] Sprite Transmission Question.

I have a ribcage transmission that I received in a parts purchase 
that was "worked on" by a DPO. I have been working on some obvious 
problems but haven't had the tranny in a car to really try it out.

I did remove the "Locking screws" on the bottom of the tranny forward 
of the drain plug. One seems to be OK with the spring and plunger. 
The smaller headed screw looks like it should have two ball bearings 
followed by the "Locking screw" - part 2-3088 in the VB catalog and 
no spring. Is this correct that two ball bearings go in that spot?

My shop manual makes it seem like one ball goes in with the locking 
screw and the other goes in the bottom right corner hole in the side 
cover and that doesn't make much sense either.
