I experienced strange symptoms like that in FROG AYE.  Hit the brakes hard
enough and the horn would honk!  Something kinda natural in that doncha
think?  Anyway, it turned out that some of the smoke had escaped from the
wiring harness.  More escaped later when I converted to an alternator....
Installing a new wiring harness with all the appropriate smoke cured the
problem.
