The Rover was a direct copy from the Buick aluminum V-8 as used by Buick, 
Pontiac and Olds (with a few differences between the Buick and Olds) in the 
early 60s.

Is the Rover V8 a General Motors V8?  It looks like a Buick V8?

It is also about the same displacement as the V6 in my Chevy Xtreme truck.
